AirCare Flight Insurance

Simple, Affordable Flight Insurance.

No matter what.

AirCare’s not complicated. But it is powerful. Starting at $34 for domestic flights, it can rebook a missed connection automatically. Help replace lost luggage quickly. Even provide you instant cash simply for the inconvenience encountered.

Consider this typical scenario that happened to a client with a Disney Vacation:

Recently there was a major, multi-airport delay from Air Traffic Control due to extreme weather. Chicago was shutdown, and weather was also impacting Atlanta and Orlando… Airlines do not issue vouchers or pay for hotel/meals if it’s not directly their fault (such as mechanical, staffing, etc). As such, you’re on your own. If you have traditional travel insurance, than many times that will reimburse you for your out of pocket costs, but what about the sheer inconvenience of it all? In this specific instance, the clients family was returning back to three different states (a multi-generational family). One group had a 6 hour delay, and didn’t get home until 1am, the other a 7 hour delay getting home at 4am, and the grandparents back home the following day. Travel Insurance will provide reimbursement for your out of pocket costs. AirCare would also provide $50 per person for flight delays over 2 hours — or more (see the chart below). A tarmac delay over 2 hours pays $1000/person. When layered on top of traditional insurance, AirCare provides you cash for the simple inconvenience of the situation.

Frequently Asked Questions:

[toggle title=”What are the eligibility requirements for AirCare?”]
For AirCare, the flight cannot already be affected in any way, the flight must depart sometime the following day or later, and all flight segments must be valid commercial airline flights (no hot-air balloons). We cover a maximum of two travel segments per calendar day and four per policy, so Chicago-Denver > Denver-San Francisco would be okay, but Kalamazoo-Chicago > Chicago-Denver > Denver-San Francisco (if all those flights occurred in one day) wouldn’t be. Also, the customer, airline, airport, destination, and sales agent must not be on the government’s blocked list; there must not be extreme weather taking place at the departure airport or destination at the time of scheduled travel; and the primary traveler must be 18 or older.[/toggle]

[toggle title=”The weather’s looking iffy. Can I still buy AirCare?”]
If severe weather is forecast for your destination or along your flight path, or if your flight has a well-documented history of repeatedly being delayed or cancelled, you might not be able to buy AirCare.[/toggle]

[toggle title=”How is AirCare different from travel protection I get through my credit card?”]
Lots of ways. While AirCare lacks the travel-accident and accidental-death-and-dismemberment coverage some credit cards have, we add tarmac delay – much more useful, unless you’re planning on spending your next vacation base-jumping. We also don’t make you use one credit card to buy everything for your trip, and we’re a lot more flexible on receipts – and quicker-paying. No “claims with a pic and a click” over there, or proactive rebooking. We let you tell us where you want claims payments deposited, and we’re here 24/7/365 to help with coverage and emergency assistance questions.[/toggle]

[toggle title=”I have a reasonable connection, but AirCare turned down my application, saying the connection was too short.”]
Not all airports are created equal. A 30-minute connection in one airport, where flights are on time and gates are close by, is more than reasonable. An hour and a quarter in some airports is borderline. We tried to come up with a universal time for missed connections, knowing that it’s going to seem silly to some people on some days on some flights. Over time we’re sure we’ll be able to come up with a missed-connection time that everyone can agree with.[/toggle]

[toggle title=”Is AirCare really as simple as it sounds?”]
Yes! All you need is a valid itinerary and a means of payment. The rest is black and white. We can and will help you through the process if needed. Call us at 530-244-7447.[/toggle]
